10 Ways to Get Healthy at Pittsburgh International Airport

Pittsburgh International Airport recently won the Air Transit World award for the 2017 Airport of the Year. They’re the first airport in America to win this award. Now Pittsburgh Airport joins the ranks with Hong Kong, London Heathrow and Singapore’s Changi Airports.

1. Stretch out in a downward dog.

Yoga is one of the best ways to relieve stress – no matter where you are. PIT Airport is offering up free yoga classes from June 5th-9th that passengers are encouraged to participate in! It’s part of their Fit2Fly event that embraces wellness with a program of activities that encompass healthy eating, yoga and “fit-friendly” giveaways.

2. Interact with a real dog.

Pittsburgh Airport has its own therapy dog program called PIT PAWS (Pups Alleviating Worry and Stress). Make your layover less ruff by petting one of these little cuties!

3. Fill up your water bottle at a hydration station.

We all know it’s important to stay hydrated at the airport. After all, staying well hydrated is the best way to avoid getting sick on a flight. Bring an empty water bottle to fill up post-security and make sure you keep drinking!

4. Grab a fresh smoothie at Green Beans Coffee.

Although fresh juices are all the rage right now, some people argue that smoothies are healthier. And they might be right! Smoothies contain extra vitamins due to the skins and pulp being blended in. Green Beans Coffee has a variety of smoothies to choose from.

5. Groove to some live music.

Who gets bored before they board? Not us. Especially not with live music around. Catch some music near Baggage Claim on Thursday afternoons from 4-7pm.

If you’re looking for a fresh, organic meal, Farm Fresh Deli is the place to be. We’ve mentioned farm-to-table food at the airport before and this restaurant fits right in. We love being able to get a nutritious and delicious meal at the airport.
